La Vega used its running game to pound the Connally defense and gain its first District 19-3A victory, 55-21, at home. The Pirates (4-3, 1-1) bounced back from their district opening loss to Lorena and kept Connally (0-7, 0-2) winless.

VALLEY MILLS — The Eagles held off the Wildcats in their District 7-1A Division I opener and stayed unbeaten on the season. Valley Mills (7-0, 1-0) trailed 22-20 early in the fourth quarter against Santo (5-3, 0-2), but came back for the win.
