Question by Krissi(:: Can a 17-year-old move out of his parent’s house in California?
My boyfriend’s parents are irrationally unfair and unbelievably strict and freak out over the smallest things. He is constantly being grounded for little mistakes that teenagers make. But none of this is grounds to be considered “child abuse.”
I was thinking about talking to him about moving in with me or maybe a friend?
He loves his dad but his step mom take over and tries to control everything. She isn’t fit to be a parent. She definitely did not want kids but she married his father anyway.

I just wanted to know if he needed to be emancipated or if he could just do it on his own? He’s graduating this year and turns 18 in March. My parents would be alright with it.
