The President asked me to submit a question on health care reform and take part in an ongoing online discussion. My Question: First, Mr. President, let me apologize for having to rely on the pseudo-anonymity of the Internet to pose this question, for of fear of losing my job and potential future employment due to marijuana discrimination fostered by a ‘free’ nation. Mr. President, are you going to allow the health care industry to target marijuana users, and discriminate against them? Are you going to endow ‘mandatory’ health insurance with the ability to screen all citizens for marijuana use, with punitive implications? You foster marijuana discrimination: denying jobs, student loans, VA medical benefits, medical procedures, the list goes on. Why should freedom loving American’s trust their prohibitionist government to reform health care? Mr. President, our prisons are the largest in the world: a ‘judicious’ use of taxpayer dollars. Since 1977, more than 20 million people have been arrested for simple possession of marijuana. In fact, just last week, 29 year old Theresa Anthony died in prison while serving a ‘2 week’ sentence for marijuana possession. Why should freedom loving American’s trust their prohibitionist government to reform health care? You cannot accomplish something as simple and straight-forward as cannabis regulation, for all the good it would do, so I find it hard to believe that prohibitionist, crony capitalism will credibly reform health care.
