my best friend has a weed addiction… what do i do?

Question by d_butera: my best friend has a weed addiction… what do i do?
he doesn’t just smoke, he’s totally addicted… he’s lost jobs over it, can’t go a single day without it, and he’s about to lose his girlfriend (he says he loves her but she can’t take the addiction anymore)
he has similar problems with respecting authority (like police), stopping alcohol consumption at a reasonable level when he goes to the city/parties, etc.

his little brother just got expelled because of weed he gave him
and now my friend’s daughter is growing up, so soon she’ll recognize what he’s doing – or worse, eventually start smoking with/because of him, and/or get expelled herself. she’s almost 5 now, but he’s made no efforts to quit, and it’s been 10 years of smoking for him.

at this point, he’s burned so many bridges that a group intervention is not an option, and i dont have the money or legal backing to put him in rehab – he wont go. he admits he has a problem, but he doesn’t seem to consider it much of an issue, and says i’m persecuting him whenever i tell him i dont like him smoking.

what can i do???
