Question by 45757: Is it illegal to use popular names such as “Facebook” or “myspace” to create a domain name for a blogging site?
like “Facebook101.com” for instance. Can you make a website about facebook, using “Facebook” in the domain name and not break any laws or risk any lawsuits.

I just don’t wanna wake up one morning and find out that I got sued for millions of dollars.

You would probably be ok if you did 2 things:
first, you’re not trying to emulate FB or its activities, and
you put a disclaimer on your website “Not
affiliated with FB or any of its related sites.”
Worry about being sued after you make money.
