Ecstasy: Face Facts Competition: eDoctors & Nurses
Directed By Thomas Goodin and Amy Whitfield Music By Thomas Goodin Starring Amy Whitfield This film is Thomas Goodin and Amy Whitfield’s entry to the “ECSTASY: FACE FACTS Short Film Competition”. “When creating this film, we thought that instead of doing the typical hand- held video camera or documentary piece, we would film a series of photo’s of one girl’s night at a dressup party, and follow her through the night as she regretably takes ecstasy and ends up with more than she bargained for on her hands. As any teenager will tell you, sometimes the ‘photos’ from the night before are the only way young people can REMEMBER the night before, due to alcohol or illegal substances, including ecstasy, so there is an element of irony in that it is filmed with “photos”. We chose to make the party a dressup party, not only to make the film more vibrant and colourful, but also to add yet another element of irony, in that the teenagers are all dressed as doctors and nurses, the very people that the main character will presumably be meeting with by the end of the night as she overdoses. Above all, however, we wanted to get straight to the point and highlight the impact of ecstasy on people across the nation. This is a very real story, and many people have died because of it. In a perfect world this film should never have had to be made, but atleast we know that we have impacted on people somewhere to think twice before taking ecstasy.”
