I am worried about my 17 yr old son. He lives with Dad. his Dad started drinking again after being sober for 10 years. He is controlling, narcissistic and verbally and emotionally abusive. He has emailed nasty verbally abusive emails and now emailing his step children- my children (adult.) My son quit school- which he allowed and I did not find out until later. The ex has refused to take my son to the Dr. to get an inhaler. The ironic thing is that he works for Family court and counseling people who are alcohol and drug abusers- and he is one of them! The last court hearing he demanded more child support- and since he knows the judges, lawyers and assistants working in the courts, they took his side. So now I want to take him to court. I am concerned about my son who is really a good kid- no trouble, drugs or anything. He is trapped in this situation right now and feeling like he’s got to take care of everything.His Dad came home drunk last night, got in a fight and is out of control. I can not speak to the ex- he refuses and just abuses me. My son deserves better and I’m not sure how to go about taking him to court. I can not afford what a lawyer charges, but they say I don’t qualify for legal services either. What to do? Anyone in Hawaii that can help?
