Teenager with substance abuse problem?
Question by nebula: Teenager with substance abuse problem?
My 17 year-old-sister has had an alcohol problem for a couple of years. She’s been in repeated trouble with the law, and has consequently entered into an outpatient rehab/therapy program. My family believed that this program was helping, but last week we got a call @ 1:30am that she was at a party acting like an idiot & we should go get her. When she drinks, she gets very insolent & violent. When my mom & brother showed up to get her, she tried to hit my mom, so my brother restrained her. Throughout the next few hours, she acted in a very violent manner, physically fighting with my brother, & hitting me (although I didn’t fight back). It seems as though she & my brother’s relationship is beyond repair, & I feel that she cannot be trusted at all. My parents seem to be in denial, & other than taking her car away from her, nothing has changed.
Can anyone who has been in this sort of situation offer any advice? Should I stay out of it, or is there a way I can help? I’m 29 btw.

you should find your local AA and find out how to deal with your sister….they have wonderful programs for the families of alcoholics
