Joni Mitchell’s GREEN FLAG SONG in… GALWAY, Ireland (July 2008) !STEREO OPTION!

WATCH IT IN HIGH QUALITY! **** STEREO?: www.youtube.com Hey! I’ve just come back from Ireland where I spent a week visiting the south-west of the country. Beautiful landscapes, warm people, and a rather mild weather!!!… these were the right circumstances to see Joni Mitchell’s exhibition which took place in Galway (Galway Arts Festival, 14-27 July 2008). The numerous triptychs of her “Green Flag Song” project inspired me enough to make this little video. Enjoy! Quality is poor because I used a cheap small digital camera. Sadly, Joni herself wasn’t there (so don’t expect to see her in this vid!…). But you could feel her presence in the gallery anyway… you could feel the dedication she put into her work… and all these fluorescent screens we were surrounded by… a pretty bizarre experience… even if my opinion is that all this would not be of great interest without Joni Mitchell being who she is! That’s a fact. The words of the songs “Slouching Towards Bethlehem” and “Strong And Wrong” (also the words of “The Three Great Stimulants” in the “signed” exhibition catalog) were displayed on large panels. Outside the gallery, there were all these amateur bands and amateur musicians playing almost everywhere in the town. And so I just couldn’t help thinking of the song “For Free” that she sang years ago and, well, I felt uncomfortable about the big discrepancy between Joni’s neat and very quiet exhibition and all those guys playing (often real good) for free in the
