Question by Molly: wrote a song about a friends’ drug abuse.. suggest improvements?
I sing in a local rock band and write songs all the time. This one was inspired by a serious drug problem that someone I love very much has. If you have any suggestions to improve it I would really appreciate them. When I’m playing this song at some gig in the future I want him to really hear what I’m saying.

note: by way of explanation, the line from the chorus “spread ecstatic on the floor” is referencing using a copious amount of the drug molly (or some other form of mdma/ecstasy) to the point where you’re basically so high that you can’t get up off the floor. its sickening. i cant stand seeing people like that. to explain the second chorus, this friend of mine basically saved me from being stuck in a mentally abusive relationship after id lost all confidence in myself. he made me believe i deserved more than i had which is more than anyone else had been able to do. i just want to help him save himself the same way he did it for me, by showing him the truth
__________

-Ecstatic-

Harlequin from the lonely gray
came to steal my breath away
Hypnotized by a warm embrace
lost the path but found the way

He was Gabriel and he was sin
fought this hell we’re living in
Forced my doubt into the light
gave me vision but he lost his sight

You see, to me, the truth is not the most easy
It’s ugly, baby, but what the hell? It sets us free
Live and listen, this life could be way fucking more
than choked up, doped up, spread ecstatic on the floor

I grew accustomed to the constant plague
got down on my knees to beg
Insides numbed to the lust for change
sang the same lines, lost the range

My Beauty screamed, “Are you fucking blind?
How could you treat yourself unkind?”
This renegade rose to her feet
Cried out, “It’s not a one way street”

You see, to me, the truth is not the most easy
It’s ugly, baby, but what the hell! It sets us free
Live and listen, this life could be way fucking more
than choked up, doped up, spread ecstatic on the floor

In ecstasy, in ecstasy
the lights and sounds mean more than me.
To ecstasy, that hollow dream
I’m losing

You see, to me, the truth is not the most easy
It’s ugly, baby, but what the hell? It sets us free
Live and listen, this life could be way fucking more
than choked up, doped up, spread ecstatic on the floor

You see, to me, the truth is not the most easy
You wane, you bleed, but I can see those angel’s wings
Just slow the speed, ’cause life means so much more when you’re
not choked up, doped up, spread ecstatic on the floor
