Studies have revealed that approximately half of the people suffering from substance abuse also have issues regarding their mental health as well. In order for dual diagnosis to get treated, the treatment program should involve treating both the patient’s addiction as well as his psychological problem. Treating only one of the illnesses won’t be enough, as this will not make the other go away. This also bodes for more chances of relapse.
