Question by PL: can allergy medicines have an effect on schizophrenia?
i have a family history of schizophrenia and am starting to show what could either be early signs or some bizarre side-effects from my allergy medicines. i’m just wondering if allergy medicines could have an effect and could be speeding it up or if its more likely to just be a side-effect.

I don’t think your allergy meds are speeding up progression. I’d expect that out of a street drug or an SSRI. I think maybe it could be a side effect, or you could be prodromal. Hard to say without more detailed info. Check with your primary care physician (when you abbreviate that it spells PCP…)
