What should I tell a student whose friend is heavy into drugs at age 15?
Question by gridironmadmen: What should I tell a student whose friend is heavy into drugs at age 15?
I am a Youth Pastor and a student of mine has a good friend who is 15. She has done drugs for 2 1/2 years–pot every day, plus acid several times, crack cocaine, ecstacy, and countless others (most everything except heroin). She has a horrible home life–deadbeat dad and a stepmom who hates her…they’re out drunk every night…the girl has no positive role models, except my friend who is trying to get her to come to Youth Group (she’s a self-described atheist). I’m not out to shove religion down her throat; in fact, I just want to meet her and let her know she’s always welcome in our group…in the meantime, there’s real concerns here–a very bad home life, lots of drugs, constantly using more and more and harder drugs, and to top it off, she doesn’t think she’s addicted and doesn’t want to quit…yeah, it’s deep stuff. What would you do if you were me? Report her? If so, to whom? I don’t know her, just the guy…he’s looking for answers, as am I.
