Founded in 1945, Fairbanks helps men, women and adolescents focus on recovery through comprehensive treatment and recovery services. As a regional leader in alcohol and drug treatment and recovery, Fairbanks has been offering inpatient and outpatient care for 65 years. It continues that assistance through its aftercare and First Step Transitional Living programs as well as through the Research and Training Institute. Beginning with the founding of Fairbanks by Dr. Nevitt and Mr. Brady, the new microsite uses a timeline narrative to give visitors a closer look at the history and events that built Fairbanks into the comprehensive addiction and recovery center it is today.
The new microsite is a way to celebrate and share the history of Fairbanks facilities from the first detoxification unit to today’s hospital and transitional living centers. The site also shares the evolution and expansion of Fairbanks services over the years, beginning with a simple twelve-bed home all the way to the inclusive and extensive care offered today through intensive day treatment, day and evening programs, residential programs, mental health services and the research and training institute. Focusing efforts and resources on addiction recovery takes steps toward a better future, not just for men, women and adolescents who struggle with addiction, but for the families and communities in which those individuals struggle.
