When Roger Oestrich arrived in the area, he was nearly dead. The veteran needed a liver transplant from the Veterans Affairs Hospital, the result of too many years of addiction. He got the lifesaving operation. But after that, he told the Vancouver City Council, he had no idea what to do. Luckily, he said, he found the Road to Recovery Club.
