Why do young folks like to speed and drive like they’re playing a racing video game?

Question by somber_pieces: Why do young folks like to speed and drive like they’re playing a racing video game?
Most cars made *stock – from the factory are not designed for high performance. The safety ratings for cars and trucks are made at low speeds.

Most folks like to trick-up their engine to sound and perform like a race car, except a lot of folks forget that the rest of the car can’t handle the strain and abuse of street racing.

Is it any wonder that a lot crashes and loses of control result in death or permanent disability?
As for the Elderly folk that also seem to like to “haul-it” ever notice what it is that they drive? They have invested serious bucks in their street machines. Either the cars that they race around in are stock sports cars like a Porche or Masserati, or it could be that these old gezzers have spent the time to restore and trick out the whole car/truck it specialty parts that enable them to race their “wheels” like a real racer.
The big difference between these “old fart mobiles” and a race car is;
A race car has several sponsors that pay for the upgrades (thas why race cars have all those advertisments/stickers on them)
A private citizen pays for all their own upgrades, and fees and repairs and of course traffic fines, and lastly their own insurance premiums.
