Maintaining Control ( PART 3 of 5 ) DRUGS: Focusing on Fort Pierce 1987

Covering the streets of Fort Pierce Police Officer Stacy Moran hosts a segment called “Maintaining Control” put together by Stacy with the assistance of WTVX in Fort Pierce with clips from large cities around the country. This video focuses on the use of crack cocaine (rock) that became rampant in the mid eighties. Before that, crack was unheard of in the Fort Pierce area but gained momentum soon after being introduced. Law Enforcement attempts to maintain or even gain control of the drug trade in our area. What you are about to see in this video is an officer in Rhode Island that was dispatched to a domestic disturbance where a subject is high in cocaine. Shortly after the officer arrives he is taken hostage by this drug addict. A shooting pursues and the officer is shot in the hand while the subject is shot and killed. Frantic measures by the rescue squad could not revive the suspect. Unfortuneatly the subject died. The second video in this segment shows a white male subject being extrodicted back to stand trial on charges of molestation and kidnapping of a male child, the father of the child is high on cocaine and shoots the subject in the head at the airport. These areas or any other area in the United States will never become drug-free, so enforcement will continue.
