I have been off of meth for about a year and a half, i have gained alot of weight and have cravings still??

Question by moondancer616: I have been off of meth for about a year and a half, i have gained alot of weight and have cravings still??
i am glad to off of it but my body doesn’t agree. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this mentally and physically? My family tries to be understanding but I can’t really explain the addiction to them and I am haqving a harder time than I let on. I could really use some feedback, suggestions and support. I am active and eat fairly healthy, often I feel depressed, anxious, and sometimes I ccrave it so much that afterr a “dope dream” I can even tatse it. I thought this would end afterr being clean for a year but it hasn’t…can anyone help??

The first thing is CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING CLEAN!!!!!!!!! Breaking free from drug addiction is extremely difficult, and you should be very proud of yourself for putting in the work.

The next thing is, you should look into a support group for people who are coming off meth. You can talk to your family, and you should, but no one understands what you’re going through better than someone who’s going through it at the same time. You can also talk to them about the physical things you’re feeling (which are a result of the chemical changes your body has experienced from the meth abuse). Your body is still trying to find where its “normal” is, and depending on how long you were on meth, it may take a long time for your body to re-equalize. Stay strong! A year and a half is a long time, but you made it!
