Question by jeremy: Do you think that people with CHEMICAL DEPENDENCIES should be sent to PRISON? Why not REHAB?
Shouldn’t we be focused on fixing their problem rather than punishing them for essentially the same thing that we are all guilty of – wanting to feel happy or trying to relieve pain, whether it is physical or emotional?
i mean the crime of possession of the drug – whatever it may be, and purchasing the drug for personal consumption.

sending people to prison for no crime but possession of their drug of choice it is cruel and unusual punishment. However if a crime is committed while they are high the they have to pay like anyone else. If a drunk driver hits kid he goes to prison. The excuse, “I was high” or “I needed the money to cop” to excuse bad behavior.
