Advice, please. My boyfriend and I are in our mid-thirties, and have been together 5 years. He is very loving. But….here’s the big BUT, he is addicted to crack cocaine. he can’t go more than maybe 5 or 6 days without it, then he’ll binge for 3 days. It’s the reason we don’t live together. When he gets the craving/urge to smoke, i leave. He gets super paranoid on it. It’s pretty scary. He;s been doing this for over 12 years. My question is this…what would you do if you were in love with someone who was a crackhead? He doesn’t steal from me, but it means we have less money as a couple. Has anyone else experienced this? Can they quit by themselves or is it really too addictive without going into detox? I want to have a future with this man, as he is otherwise a good person. Would this be a deal-breaker for most people? Should I leave him for a while till he gets help(he probably won’t?) What do you think? Any advice appreciated. Also, does anyone know the long-term effects on the brain from smoking crack? Can it destroy someone’s mental health? Can they get violent?

Bad things can happen yes depending on how his body reacts to it.
You can put him into rehab but unfortunately that would only work if he wants to stop.
If he’s not willing too accept any type of help I think you should break it off. You can’t change people who don’t want to be changed.
