Is it hypocrisy or medicine?

Question by djng69: Is it hypocrisy or medicine?
Doctors prescribe pills of all sorts to methamphetamine addicts, heroin junkies, and pill poppers that become their patients in rehabilitation facilities across the u.s.a. Although most doctors of medicine advocate sobriety and overall wellness, do you think it is hypocritical to ween addicts from street drugs deemed deadly… to pharmacuetical substances they themselves earn high revenue for prescribing? Is our society aware that more people are prone to addiction through drugs that licensed doctors prescribe to patients, than the drugs sold and manufactured in clandestine laboratories illegally across america? Anyone think this is as repulsive or hypocritical as I? What do you think? Doctors? or Dealers? What are we teaching our society here? Hypocracy or medicine?

It sounds like hypocrisy to me. However, some of this may be necessary in the beginning stages of withdrawal in order to prevent death of the drug user. I’m not a medical doctor. But you are exactly correct. It is much too easy to get a prescription to drugs that should never be made available to most people.
