Movie review: Daughter’s search for bond hopper fathers fine version of Southern Goth
It wouldn’t be wise to mess with Ree Dolly. It’s not that the 17-year-old hero of Debra Granik’s gloriously assured second feature, “Winter’s Bone,” is violent. Far from it. Daughter of a mentally ailing mother and a missing-in-action father, Ree is the pragmatic, mindful caretaker of her much- younger brother and sister.
