Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew

Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew is a reality television series on the cable network VH1. It premierd on January 10, 2008 and it’s about to commence it’s third, newly named season which was kicked off in November of 2009. The show follows the lives of celebrities who are fighting addiction and undergoing various drug and alcohol treatments. The show is filmed at the Pasadena Recovery Center in California and the patients are treated by Dr. Drew Pinsky and some of his trusted staff including Bob Forrest.

Season One Recap:

The celebrities that were followed on season one were as follows:

Daniel Baldwin- an actor who dropped out after episode four

Mary Cary- a porn star and former candidate for California Governor

Chyna (a.k.a. Joanie Marie Laurer)- actress and former wrestler

Jeff Conaway- an actor

Jaimee Foxworth- a former child star

Brigitte Nielsen- an actress and previous model

Ricco Rodriguez- former UFC Heavyweight Champion

Jessica Sierra- a singer and former American Idol contestant

Seth Binzer- lead singer of a rapcore band Crazy Town

The Results?

Sierra, Binzer and Carey all agreed to enter a transitional sober living home directly following the show. All three, along with Laurer and Foxworth eventually relapsed and some had to re-enter treatment. Check out the VHI Celebrity Rehab Reunion show to find out more. Unfortunately, Dr. Drew failed at getting many of these rich celebrities off their bar stools and into real life.

Season Two Recap:

Steven Adler- the former drummer of Guns N’ Roses

Jeff Conaway- actor returning after season one to avoid abusing his back pain meds.

Rodney King- A U.S. civil rights figure after being beaten on tape by L.A.P.D. officers in 1991

Tawny Kitaen- an actress and previous model

Nikki McKibbin- a singer and former American Idol contestant

Amber Smith- model/actress

Sean Stewart- singer and son of Rod Stewart

Gary buser- actor, recovering abuser of cocaine who was included not as a patient but as a supporter

Seth Binzer- singer returning from season one after a relapse

The Results?

All of the celebrities with the exception of Kitaen, Busey, and Stewart decided to live in a transitional sober home which would be filmed as a show called “Sober House.” Conaway was kicked off the show for violence and still suffers from a pain killer addiction. During the Sober House drama, Adler, Smith, and Binzer all relapsed. Unfortunately, Kitaen was arrested for drunk driving in September of 2009.

So what’s going on for season 3 and 4?

In April of 2009 it was decided to take Celebrity Rehab off the air and replace it with a similar spin-off titled “Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew.” This premiered on November 1st of 2009 and its season three will premiere on January 10th, 2010.
