Antioxidants are a real added benefit to your health. Some would say that antioxidants keep your body healthy because they fight cancer causing agents. Antioxidants include such food items as berries, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and blackberries.
Antioxidants can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. For instance, when you eat your cereal in the morning, you should add a few fresh berries to it for added health and nutrition. Eating healthy isn’t something that you do once; it is a lifestyle change. It requires both care and discipline to ensure that you develop healthy lifestyle habits. When it comes to developing a healthy diet, you need to make sure that are getting the nutrition that you need. A healthy diet typically consists of three meals a day with two to three snacks in between. Ideally, the best option is to have several small meals throughout the day because it is better for digestion as well as for your metabolism.
When you are preparing your meals, how are you preparing it? Do you consume a lot of fried foods? What type of cooking oil do you use? Dieting is one of the sure ways to gain weight because most people don’t stick to the diet they originally set out to begin with. For instance, there are people who will make new year’s resolutions to spend the extra money on the fancy gym membership because they think it will somehow magically help them to lose weight. They’ll join a few aerobics classes and attend the gym religiously for the first month or so and then they’ll start to get tired of going. All sorts of excuses as to why “I can’t go to the gym today..” will start to pop up and before you know it, the gym bag is in the corner of your room on the floor and you’re off at the nearest restaurant indulging in all of your favorite sweets.
Simply eating a handful of berries here and there isn’t enough to create a healthy diet. Rather, you must incorporate other healthy eating habits. Aim to consume foods that are relatively low in carbohydrates but high in protein. Additionally, the type of diet that you will have will vary from person to person. For example, someone who is a cross country athlete may have a diet that is carbohydrate rich while someone who is less active and is simply trying to lose weight might opt for a diet with low carbohydrates.
In addition to eating healthy, it is important to make sure that you are getting ample exercise if for nothing else but for your own health. Instead of hopping in your car to go to the store, if the store is close enough, consider walking or riding a bicycle. There are plenty of little things that you can do to get some added exercise. Instead of waiting in your car for that closer parking space, consider parking farther away. Not only will you avoid having to fight for a parking space, you’ll also get a few extra steps in!
