Hi….allergies can start at any time with any person. You may go your whole life without allergies and suddenly your body has “had enough abuse” and begin to balk at some substance invading your body.
Unless your allergist does tests, he cannot just “tell” you that you don’t have allergies. If you paid him, or your insurance paid him for that advice, he is “milking the system”.
Your symptoms are classic symptoms of either the common cold or allergies. If you do not have a fever, you probably have an allergy to SOMETHING. You cannot know what it is at this time without skin tests from a reputable allergist. Those cost money..hopefully you have some insurance. Otherwise, go to your local pharmacy and pick up an over the counter medication made for allergies. If you select Benedryl, however, it will make some folks super sleepy. That is one of the oldest antihistamine on the market and sleepliness was it’s main side effect. Since then there are many others, including Zyrtec, and Claritin. Both are excellent and will not make you sleepy… please, for your comfort, select one and hopefully it does the trick for you.
Oh, and yes, you may be allergic to your pet dander rather than his hair. Dander is like dandruff…even you shed skin cells. Your pup does as well and many folks are allergic to those skin cells. You will suffer your entire life if this is the case. Otherwise, you cannot have animals around you if the symptoms become so bad that you have to choose. Sorry.
Until then, perhaps the pills will help until you can be tested thoroughly.
Good luck
