Acute caffeine addiction.?
Question by gfxapprentice: Acute caffeine addiction.?
Every day I’m taking 0.7 – 1 g of caffeine. I’ve been doing this for many years and started to have pretty serious physical and mental problems (anxiety disorder) because of this. I went to doctors but all they say is stop drinking coffee and start drinking water. But I can’t. I’ve been trying to give up caffee for many months and every time I try I fail and start to drink even more coffee. For many years mostly I’ve been drinking only coffee, sometimes a glass of water or juice a day. Everybody is talking about headaches and no energy when giving up caffeine – it’s nothing, I whish I only had that. My biggest problem is depressed and disturbed emotions and feelings I get when I’m trying to give up coffee. Last time I went out outside of the building where I work and couldn’t decided whether to go back or go somewhere. I didn’t know what to do. I felt that I could lose control. It was very disturbing so I drank 3 coffees right away. And every time is like this. I can help myself and I need do stop drinking caffee because of my physical problems and anxiety (anxiety disorder). I can’t just drink less coffee. When I start I can’t stop. I just can’t and I’ve tried fro many months. I went to a doc and told him about this but he belittled this and said I should start drinking green tea. I tried everything but I can’t. I seriously addicted. You don’t have idea how I terribly feel when I haven’t been drinking coffee for some time. I can’t stand it. I talked recently to womam working in a pharmacy and she told me there are medications to hehlp people like me, but she didn’t know the name and redneck doctors where I live just don’t care. Does anybody is or has been in the same situation. How can I help myself? I’ve tried those teas, decaf coffees, grain coffees and all that shit, so don’t even bother yourself to post about this. Does any body can give me some proffessional advice? Or know about similar cases. I just don’t know what to do anymore.
Sorry for all those errors, I wrote it on a laptop and still I’m not used to typing on its keyboard.

My opinion based on what you have said here, is that you are trying to medicate an underlying energy deficiency, and that strongly indicates hormonal deficiencies, or imbalances…. and those can be fixed with the right help , right away.. see below
I think if you treat the cause, yuo will find it much easier to give up the caffeine…. my opinion…
There are only conventional methods of treating anxiety(which they will say it is, and throw medications at it, hoping one will stick and work)
Instead < I would go to the site below and EFT EVERYTHING bothering y;;ou, the addiction, and write it all down in a notebook, things bothering you since birth, and then EFT it all, it is free, easy and quick... then , I would seek additional help, maybe call a rehab center and talk to someone, if i needed it....
take care.... my opinion

I would not recommend going “cold turkey” on your caffeine dependence if you have really been taking as much caffeine as you have stated here. The best thing to do is to taper yourself off. What you should consider doing is taking an inventory of how much coffee you do drink per day and decrease it by 1 cup every 1 to 2 weeks until you are no longer needing to drink them. Also, beware that teas have more caffeine than most coffees do so switching over to it may not be good idea either.
No matter what, your body will have to go through a detoxification process, and you won’t be able to get away from being uncomfortable somewhat. But such withdrawal symptoms can be better managed if your discontinuation of drinking coffee is done much more slowly.
If you are looking for a clinical diagnosis is would be:
Caffeine induced anxiety disorder
Caffeine dependence
You may also want to think about why you are drinking intaking so much caffeine so that you can get at the root of the issue, remember, your caffeine addiction is a symptom of whatever is going on underneath.
