…to abuse humanity through innovation, or to abuse innovation like one abuses a substance…like a compulsion that reduces the quality of life for self and/or others?

How would you use this term in a sincere sentence or statement?

I would guess the latter because id think that abusing humanity with innovation would be more appropriately defined as innovative abuse. while ive never heard of “innovation abuse” I suppose it could mean something along the lines of undermining quality improvement through excessive and unncessary changes

it probably means using new technology to hurt people.

E.g. using Facebook to stalk people, or using cell phones to track your movements.
