Are the drugs Ecstasy and Meth the same thing?

Question by Gsjgfoij: Are the drugs Ecstasy and Meth the same thing?
I am pretty sure they aren’t, but X’s actual scientific name is Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, which has the word METH in it. Why is that? If X and Meth contain the same substance, why is it that they both give different effects?
