Question by : My girlfriend has a sleep disorder and is on Xyrem?
Her mood is in severe disaray. She is intolerant, gets downright mean, says everything I say is a putdown, and crys all the time. She never used to be like this. Does anyone have experience with this drug? Are these symptoms of Xyrem?? If I mention that it might be the drug she is on, she gets enraged. I am desperate for help!!! This is killing our relationship.

I looked up the defination of xyrem up on the internet and this is what came up with : XYREM is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of narcolepsy to reduce too much daytime sleepiness and reduce cataplexy (weak or paralyzed muscles) attacks. XYREM taken at night has been proven to help people with narcolepsy to stay awake better during the day and to have fewer cataplexy attacks. Usually when people has a sleeping disorder something has triggered like a particular event that happened in her life that she hasn’t properly dealt with. The best way to cure a sleeping disorder is to find out what has caused it for example: Maybe she has been hurt severely which is causing this reaction. I believe that is people fully want to get better that they have get off the precpetions drugs and seek proper help because there is nothing worse than medication ruining people’s lives. I know it must be hard for you maybe you can ask seek a diffrent opoium on a docotor and get reffered to a proper councellor. Just stick in as long as you can try your best and help her as much as you can.
