Should I Seek a Lawyer?

Question by Veronica: Should I Seek a Lawyer?
I have had major back problems/pain due to scolyosis in my spine since I was in high school. I have gone through so many different medications but known have seemed to work, they either make me sick or don’t work good enough. I am now 26 and last year my Doctor put me on Tramadol 50mg, wich surprisingly worked great for me, I was in so much pain relief! Then 3 months ago my Doctor bumped my dose to 300mg, whiched worked even better for me because it was a once a day dose.

Here’s my problem, I didn’t realize I was down to my last pill so I had my Doctor call the pharmacy to grant a refill, due to an insurance problem I was unable to get the refill at a affortable price so I desided to wait. I was unaware of the “Withdrawals” that came with this medicine because my Doctor told me to not worry for this medication was Non-Narcotic and not addicting! Well news flash for me IT WAS! I went through sweats, neausea, weakness, edginess, shakes and depression, I even took off of work due to the I was so sceard so I read about it online and everywhere I read it said to NEVER go Cold Turkey off the medication, a doctor should prescribe a lower dose and wing you off it.

So I contacted my Doctor to see if I can get a lower dose. He ignored my calls and denied my request. Latter I found out that my Doctor found out about my withdrawals and didn’t want to be part of what he called “my addiction”, he then passed my Situation to the Clinic Administrator (Doctors Wife) and she was actually the one who told my Doctor to deny my request to wing me off the medication because she did not want Their Clinic to be responcible for my addiction to the medication!!!

I was heart broken and deeply confussed because my Doctor was the one who had been giving me this medicine for over a year and I was unaware of the withdrawals, the prescription information had no warnings on withdrawal effects and I basically just trusted my doctor. Now I feel so victumized and hopeless. I’ve been told to seek a lawayers apinion but I’m sceard. I just need some kind of feed back please.
