What to do if ones pupils fully dialate resulting from Meth OD but neverchange for following 2 days straight?
Question by henry: What to do if ones pupils fully dialate resulting from Meth OD but neverchange for following 2 days straight?
This guy was kicked out of his ultra conservative parents house when he was caught with Meth and subsequently suffered a mild OD.Idk how much he took, but if 48 hours have passed (all of which have been supervised in MY house) and his eyes haven’t changed once, but continue to remain bitch black with the pupil. Is it an emergency? Whats going on in his body? Will he survive? What should we do? The doctor on the night of the incident said his body would eventually “detox” itself. Does it usually go this slow? We inspect his room and my uncle-who lives with us-is a cop and has a drug dog. He hasn’t had access to any drugs since initial OD.

The dilation of the pupil, or mydriasis, is a common sign seen in many overdoses.
If the person has had no access to any illegal drugs and does not have any other residual effects of his overdose, I think it might be a case of CN III palsy (oculomotor nerve).
It should be temporary and the pupil should return to normal (since you say it was a “mild” overdose and you do not list any other side effects).
CN III was “damaged” and shut down temporarily. It does take time for the nerve to recover and return to normal function.
If you don’t see any change over the next few days, I would recommend that you take him to see a doctor.
