People that battle with drug addiction don’t set out to destroy themselves, or everyone and everything in their way. These symptoms start to appear when there are decreased amounts of the substance in the blood or tissues. Tapering is important with certain substances and each drug needs to be studied closely.
Symptoms of withdrawal from either illegal or legal drugs and medications depend on the drug or combination of drugs being used. The most common symptoms of are abdominal pain, nausea with vomiting, nervousness, the shakes, seizures, and even death; these can last a few days to a few weeks. Withdrawal symptoms can happen if a person has consistent and heavy use of a drug. This can be extremely uncomfortable without the aid of some professional assistance. A cold turkey approach is not usually advised for certain types of addictions including pain pill habits.
Treatment for these symptoms requires a medical professional’s supervision. Substance abuse rehab treatment is the best way to get rid of these symptoms. Sometimes one can take a medication on an outpatient basis without going into a facility. There are many different signs to associated with withdrawal symptoms depending on the drug that is abused. Also, the length of time, dosage and history of the individual is an important factor in creating a plan of action.
