dream about drug addiction?
Question by : dream about drug addiction?
I’ve been trying to recover from simultaneous adderall and xanax addictions over the past month, and I’ve been feeling withdrawals really hard. I had a dream last night that kinda scared me. I think its about being at war with myself trying to win, but i want to keep it open to other opinions.
In the dream:
I woke up in a seemingly empty warehouse, with four overhead lights turned on, fixated on where I was lying. I was wearing white sweat pants and a white t shirt, no shoes, gloves or anything else. Out of the shadows came a guy wearing black sweat pants and a white t shirt with a black “executioner” mask on, who was my size in height and weight. I instantly knew I had to fight him, and win, because I knew was here to kill me. So a fist fight started, mostly him knocking me around left and right, and knocking me down. I was barely getting any hits in, and when I did they weren’t doing much to stop him. Both being determined to stand and win, we were toe to toe throwing punches and kicks, and we both passed out from exhaustion at the same time. When I became conscious again, I crawled over to where he was lying, took off the executioner mask he was wearing, and he woke up. The other guy was me, beaten and bloody, and looking like one of the guys you see on the “never touch meth” commercials. The executioner version of me started laughing. I can’t remember anything happening next, but I woke up sweaty and pale white. The dream was in first person and the mood was kinda terrified, but motivated, because I knew that if this guy in the dream won, he would have killed me.

Drug Dreams are very very common, if you had gone to treatment (which I highly recommend if you have problems staying clean) you would share these drug dreams every morning with others who have had similar dreams. When I first got clean from adderrall I had dreams for about the first month and then every other week after that…they stopped after about 3 months, but still pop up after 3 years of being sober! It is your brain’s way of healing, the pathways created by the habit of doing drugs are being changed now by not succumbing to feelings that make you want to use – at night your brain heals and tries to make sense of the new pathways you are creating. Be thankful they are just dreams and you didn’t use. If you have trouble staying sober I would recommend these places: http://www.whitesidemanor.com/, http://www.pinegrovetreatment.com/, http://www.cottonwooddetucson.com/
