Why does my head hurt all the time?
Question by dough232002: Why does my head hurt all the time?
I keep a headache! I usually take motrin 800mg at least 3-4x daily amd the headache keeps coming back just over an hour after taking the meds. I’ve had Headaches ever since I was in 4th grade and am now 31 yrs old. The only thing that used to help was when I came home from school I would get on my knees in a chair and bend over pressing my head against the back rest. My head generally hurts at the main top and just laying my hand on top of my head with hardly any pressure makes it disappear? I used to have high blood pressure and was on lisinopril 40mgs once daily. I am now off the medication because I don’t have high blood pressure anymore. I am in treatment for a drug problem I have had for about 9 yrs and also I had a drinking problem which started at the age of 14-15. I drank Every single day and alot! I am taking methadone to come off the addiction. Once I started taking Methadone I quit drinking the same day. It was not a problem at all to give up which suprised me but I as very determined to quit everything and have a life because I was litterally sick of the one I had. I started the Methadone clinic 4/07/08 and got up to 95mgs and just around this November I started to take myself down from the Methadone cause they really don’t care if you come off the drug or not but Im down to 50mgs now slowly coming down about 5mgs a week with no problem or cravings what so ever… and haven’t had a drink since but Once I quit doing drugs my bood pressure went down and is better than ever staying at 120/78. The reason I brought up my drug and alchohol problem is that I wanted to give a little background on myself and to say that it isn’t anything remotely close to a blood pressure headache. They are very identifiable when they come on. I don’t go to the doctor that much but I’m going once I get some time off from work.
A few more things about possible causes to put out there are, I have what feels like a spider web directly on my left shoulder that sometimes comes and goes. It seems like it starts at the center and works its way out like something is crawling on it and is very intense at times. At the same time that is happening, I have numbness and tingling in my left arm (same side) that sems to start at the elbow down to my fingers. (Pinky,Ring, and Middle Fingers) This morning I woke and sort of layed in bed a few minutes dozing in and out and rolled over and my head turned then I felt this cold sensation at the back of my neck run slowly up the back of my neck to where my head hurts most at the top middle part of the head and spreading outward toward the temples and forehead but was felt most at the main top. It last for at least an hour steady and then on and off for about 3 hours. It felt great and my headache went away for a while (Taking No MEDS) and is back again but not as intense.
Most of the time it is just there. No better no worse, but when I get upset or stressed it throbs! Anytime I move it throbs, Bending over, and I can’t stand to drive at night anymore because the lights are so bright. When a car is behind me I have to turn my rear view mirror up and my side mirrors in. Lights seem so BRIGHT! Also, the smell of diesel or a Coal Truck gives me a headache instantly. There is also some more things I can’t think of but food doesn’t that I’m aware of. I eat twice a day at the most. Oh, yeah… I have a slight lazy right eye. My vision is blurred when looking from just the right eye. I am also right handed but I’m left eye dominant which made me use my left hand alot like when I shoot a gun I shoot left handed. When I play pool, I shoot left handed. Basketball, I dribbled with my left hand the most and drove to that side of the basket the most. Anyway, I’ve wrote down my life story. I’m just wanting some opinions as to what may be happening but I am going to see a specialist in the very near future. What type of specialist should I see? I thank you ahead of time and I’m looking forward to the comments.
Sorry, I forgot to mention one major problem. I have always had very bad sinus problems. At a very young age I would get head colds and somehow it would make my teeth hurt. I would get abcessed teeth that made my face swell something awful! Made a few trips to the emergency room because of the infection and swelling. My teeth have always hurt from sinus infections which also made my head hurt but they are two seperate problems I think.
