Help from former alcoholics!!!!?
Question by tays232003: Help from former alcoholics!!!!?
I am looking for advice from former alcoholics who were in the military.
My brother is a marine and has been back from Iraq for about a year now. Since he has been back he has started drinking heavily, I would say almost everyday. Pretty much when he drinks he just keeps going until he passes out. That’s the first problem. The second one is his temper gets really bad when he is drunk. Since he’s been back he’s attacked my moms BF, knocked the teeth out of our sister’s friend, gotten into a bar fights, and the other night he attacked our cousin. All of these fights were not provoked; he just took something the wrong way and went nuts. When he gets angry like this he seems to transform into another person. He doesn’t recognize anyone, he seems to snap. The next day he says he does not remember what happened.
I am looking for advice from any one who knows someone like this or themselves was like this. How can we help him? How did you take care of the problem? I appreciate any advice.

The main thing about alcoholics is that they will not quit drinking until they are ready to.
All of the AA meetings and de-tox treatment centers will not be able to help until the person wants the help.
If you can… it would be best to get him to talk to a psychologist if you can.
Does he at least acknowledge that he does have a problem?
