Question by First Name: Anyone know about alcoholics? I dont drink, so i dont know.?
My brother drinks everyday, usually he says he drinks 3 or 4 drinks. Does this make him an alcoholic or no? He has a family, a job, ect. I don’t drink, so i have no idea. I’ve seen him not drink for a day or 2 and he hasn’t had withdraw symptoms, so it’s hard for me to tell if he just likes to drink or he has a problem. any help would be appreciated as i know nothing on the subject. He says he loves the taste of beer.

Its hard to say whether he has a problem or not. There are lots of people who are known as ‘functional addicts’ meaning that they drink (or whatever) everyday, but they still manage to maintain a ‘normal life’. Not all addicts are gutter drunks. Your brother sounds like he just enjoys a drink in the evening, esp if he can chose to go a few days without one. It is recommended that people have a couple of alcohol free days a week though. Alcohol does still put your body under stress, even though you feel relaxed.
