What is the author’s intent when they don’t use “real,” or formal, names in their stories? (Pronouns only)?

Question by TZ: What is the author’s intent when they don’t use “real,” or formal, names in their stories? (Pronouns only)?
For example, I’ve recently read these two stories: “The Son of the Head of the Mossad” by Etgar Keret, and “The Hitchhiker Game” by Kundera. I realized that throughout both stories, there are no formal names for the characters. The whole time, the narrator refers to the girl as “her,” “she,” “the girl,” etc. Basically only using pronouns.

I just thought it was really odd and I was wondering what the authors’ intentions are when they do this?

Thank you.

The author wants the reader to focus on the story and not the character’s name.
