Survivors of Child Abuse – It’s Time To Tell

Child abuse statistics are difficult to compile because most victims never report abuse. The prevalence may never be fully known but Catharsis Foundation encourages Survivors to break from early Machiavellian conditioning and to finally tell that an adult either neglected them or physically, mentally, emotionally or sexually abused them as children so that perhaps someday, children can stop living in fear for their safety and their lives. Society has shifted the responsibilities of protecting children from the adults to the ill-equipped child who does not have the knowledge, power, finances, resources, size or strength to protect themselves from adults. This is why it is so important for adult survivors to finally reveal their secrets, stop protecting the abusers and help Society understand how prevalent child abuse is. Survivors are the only people who truly understand what children who are currently being abused, but unable to tell, are going through. It’s ‘time to tell!”

Current statistics vary greatly because various reporting agencies compile data from only cases they investigate or which come to their attention and each have their own criteria for the type of information they collect. Regardless of which statistics you stumble across, the numbers are always alarming, despite being understated. Child abuse is a global epidemic and disgrace. Society needs to understand the importance of determining the type of people who perpetuate child abuse and the conditions that permit children to be continuously abused and no one knows better than the Survivors.

Catharsis Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to survivors of all forms of child abuse.
