Question by wondering: How do I help a friend struggling with heroin addiction?
She’s lost her children and respect from those who were her friends, including me. But I can’t help but feel like I’ve abandonded her, no matter how many times I tried to reach out to her. I don’t want her to feel alone or unsupported. But I can’t relate to the addiction and I don’t know what to say.

Tell her that you will be there for her when she wants to beat this self destructing habit and guide her to the ways/places that can help. It’s not abandoning when you tell her you don’t want to see her as long as she doesn’t want to beat the addiction. You can’t help a junkie as long as they “choose” to be one. NEVER give money etc. Just tell her you’ll be there when she decides to quit it and stick to that. Good luck to you and your friend.
