How can I help my friend with his depression?

Question by Hayley C: How can I help my friend with his depression?
My really good friend, Javier has had a really rough life, he’s been through his mother dying, child abuse and homelessness as a little kid. Lately, he hasn’t been eating – resulting him into losing a lot of weight, he’s not as talkative and animated like he usually is and h won’t go anywhere with us anymore. We’re always worried about him and ask if he’s okay but he won’t say anything other than “Yea, I’m fine.”
So tonight I called him because he seemed really tense today and he explained to me that he was diagnosed with clinical depression and anxiety long ago. His foster family is a bit neglective and he only has friends to depend on. Then he started crying and said “Oh God, I need help!” It was disturbing to me because he kind of has a”tough guy” rep and a lot of people look up to him.
I’m going to the guidance counselor with him tomorrow but is there anything else I can do to really help?

Tell ur friend not to worry much and be happy with whatever he has and happens as it is God’s Will. Pray to God. Change the place for a new environment. past is past forget it. live in the present which is a gift of God. dream for tomorrow and learn from yesterday. Listen to music. good luck. Participate in helping others so that you can forget ur worries.
