Question about drug interaction with Niacin pills?
Question by c420wizzle: Question about drug interaction with Niacin pills?
I recently have started a daily work out routine, along with a few other lifestyle changes in order to become healthier. I was thinking about taking Niacin pills daily for 1 week to help flush out bad toxins in my body, and just to help out with the start of my workout program.
On another note, I am currently prescribed the medication Suboxone which is 1 of many tools I use to help with my drug addiction problem. I have been clean and sober for nearly 3 years, and have been taking Suboxone for that amount of time as well.
I currently take 8mg’s of Suboxone per day, and before I take any Niacin, I am trying to figure out if it could badly interact with my Suboxone. I know that a lot of people use Niacin to clean out their systems to try to pass a drug test, so I wasnt sure if it would someone mess with my Suboxone.
I know the best thing to do would be to call my doctor or pharmacist, but my doctor is on vacation, and the pharmacist’s phoneline has been busy all day. I will contact them as soon as possible, but in the meantime I was looking for some answers on Y! Answers.
Thank you to anyone that takes the time to answer, and please no rude comments about me being on Suboxone or being a recovering drug addict. I have made mistakes in the past, and have turned my life around, and am not interested in any rude or unnecessary comments about that.
Thanks and have a great day everyone

Niacin/suboxone should not interact with each other. High dose niacin should not be taken without talking to one’s doctor though.
