Not sure where post, so posting a few places– How do we make them stop?

Question by Ellen: Not sure where post, so posting a few places– How do we make them stop?
My best friend killed himself Monday. He was gay.
Since then, those of us grieving his loss have been bombarded by church groups trying to “help” us. I’ve been told that he’s in Hell. That he was a pervert. That Satan claimed him. That it is child abuse that I allowed my children to know him. That if I want to save my kids from the same fate, I need to accept that he was a sinner and beg God to forgive me for not doing anything for him.
Meanwhile, he had no funeral because his parents’ religion wouldn’t allow it. He was cremated and when they went to spread his ashes, a local church showed up to “discuss the severity of his sins” with his parents.
Yesterday, his partner answered a ringing doorbell and found a Bible on the front steps. On the inside, someone had written “God: 1 F-gs: 0.”

I believe in God, but I believe God loved my friend. I also don’t believe God would like the way “his” people are acting.

Do they not understand we’re hurting? Why must they rub salt in the wounds?

I don’t know what denomination you are talking about, but that’s not Christ-like behavior. Romans 15:1 says: We who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength.
They should be bringing food, offering to clean house, mowing yard, listening, and offering comfort and hope…
I’m sorry for your loss and for the ungodly behavior these people you are speaking of are demonstrating to people who are already hurting.
Get them for trespassing or place a restraining order if you are able to identify them.
