If it is customary to pass a Drug Test to get a job, shouldn’t you need to pass one to collect SSI or Welfare?
Question by all in on the flop: If it is customary to pass a Drug Test to get a job, shouldn’t you need to pass one to collect SSI or Welfare?
Or even Unemployment Benefits? Would this not help with the situations in the low income areas affected by Drug addiction?
Drugs breed laziness. Why should I be forced to pass prove my sobriety if someone on Section 8 does not? And they get free rent, have kids, and are not required to work.
I know times are hard and it’s tough to get a job. I am IN FAVOR of these programs, I just think you should prove sobriety to obtain or keep them.

you are wrong twice. i know two section 8 people. neither has worked in years. she just gets a temp job for 3 days then gets back qualified, quits and exploits the system, and she is high as a kite all day. also, i am not a conservative.
alchohol is not illegal. testing for it is not really going to do much. if old folks are on scripts, then they should disclose that. terrible arguments.

Many people on disability couldn’t pass a drug test. Many are on painkillers and other drugs because of their disability. Both social security and unemployment are paid for by the people who use them as well as employers. And if you are fired for drug use you can’t collect from unemployment anyway.
And why just pick on drugs…how about alcohol too?
And they are required to work or go to school, that happened thirteen years ago, how long does it take for conservatives to learn they don’t have to worry anymore?
My husband is a trucker, they get random tested for drugs and alcohol. Even if it is legal. Random testing for alcohol or drugs can and should be done if thats what you want to do, for people on welfare, but if they are found to be on them what makes you think they have the rational thought left to quit?
Old folks aren’t the only ones on medication, ask anyone with some cancers or other painful ailment.
As to your Section 8 friend, (Section 8 by the way is for housing) , report them if you want to , I certainly don’t approve of any kind of fraud, but be aware that you may not know the whole story.
