Gov. Nikki Haley on Friday picked a longtime state employee to take over the state’s alcohol and drug abuse agency, which she hopes to merge with South Carolina’s mental health services.

Bligh was out of her depth for five years
Bill Carpenter (Letters, January 14), one swallow does not a summer make. It has taken Anna Bligh five summers to get something right. Before the floods her popularity was 20 per cent or thereabouts. I do accept though, that she has done an excellent job on this one occasion.
