How can you detect a home contaminated with meth?
Question by artist09: How can you detect a home contaminated with meth?
We purchased our home in April of 2009. It is a 5,000 square foot home with a walk out basement. Our neighbors just told me yesterday that when the previous owner lived here they suspected him of running a meth lab in the outbuilding behind the house. They said it blew up one night and was completely cleaned up and replaced the next day! It sounds like they made it outside the home, but they could have smoked it in the house! When we moved in the home it was very dirty, but I didn’t notice any strange smells. We replaced all of the carpet and painted the entire house. How can we find out if our home is contaminated without spending hundreds of dollars? Would we have had side effects by now? I have 3 small children including a healthy 6 month old daughter that I had while living in this home. I am concerned about their health.
Everything I read on line says that the toxic chemicals from making meth absorb into the walls, etc. of a home and even smoking in the home can leave toxic chemicals.

A house doesn’t get contaminated by somebody smoking meth in it… lol. If you’re really going to spend hundreds of dollars on this, could you send me some money too as long as you like handing it out so much?
Regarding your link… First… This guy makes money this way. Second… He clearly says a positive result for meth residue does not necessarily mean there was a lab or any danger. He also says most homes are “contaminated” by cleaning products.
You’re making a big deal out of nothing and anybody who gave me a “thumbs down” is as gullable as you are because I’m 100% right on this. Relax!
