What are the signs of a crack addiction? (personal experience preferred)?

Question by Baby Boy Due June 30th!!: What are the signs of a crack addiction? (personal experience preferred)?
My family is planning an intervention on my older brother who is 31. He went through a traumatic divorce 2 years ago after admitting that he was having multiple one-night stands. They separated initially and were going to try to work it out but she filed for the divorce. Since then—-my family has watched him spiral out of control. He is a high school teacher and track coach—and he and his ex-wife belong to the same mutual circle of friends/associates and this group that meets weekly. He hadn’t taken a vacation/break of any sort since their divorce. We first started noticing his hygiene neglecting. He goes days without showering sometimes and stopped getting his hair cut. He also doesn’t brush his teeth. He loss a lot of weight about 6 months ago even though he’s always had a small frame. And he goes through bouts of binge eating, then not eating for days. He’ll cover his non-eating up by saying he’s fasting. Recently, his behavior has started to become irrational. He’ll sometimes be sullen, moody then after disappearing to the bathroom or outside—he’ll come back in chipper/talkative with blood shot eyes. I thought he was just smoking weed but it has to be more. He also makes grandiose plans and lofty financial promises that he never backs up. He had been borrowing money from all of us for the last two years, yet he makes MORE than all of us combined. We are worried, but because we never caught him in the act (smoking a crack pipe or snorting) we have been in denial. We have talked to him numerous times before about his appearance and personality changes but he brushes it off. He is also isolated from any real friends. All of his old mutual friends sided with his wife after the divorce making him an outcast—yet he still surrounds himself around them daily.

Text book drug abuser. What more do you want besides catching him in the act? What else could it possibly be??? It’s also a stimulant if he’s losing weight. check him for sores too, because meth and crack is so acidic, it makes it hard for your body to repair skin damage, everything including minor scraps and bruises. Tooth decay is another sign not just from not brushing your teeth but acid from meth and crack. It’s hard to tell whether it’s meth or crack though, and coke usually doesn’t cause significant weight loss and staying up for days unless it’s some serious coke use which means serious MONEY. Chances are it’s crack or meth. He needs help immediately!!! Make him take a drug test. It’s like $ 30 at any pharmacy. Depression is one thing, but you’ve described drug addiction perfectly.
