Question by Carrie M: Can you have enlarged blood cells even after you quit drinking?
My in law was an alcoholic for many years and has been clean for probably about 2 years now. Her red blood cells are enlarged and the dr doesnt know why. I have a suspicion that she didnt tell the dr that she used to be an alcoholic.

That’s just weird. I’ve never heard of people having enlarged blood cells. Certainly the cell counts can vary tremendously, but the size of the cells really doesn’t change much and if they did I would tend to think it would cause catastrophic results almost immediately.
