The other day my dad told me he had an appointment with an alcohol rehabilitation place. Turns out he signed a bunch of papers to be a patient there and its HELL. I did some research on the place and people are saying that its like a prison and theres a bunch of crazy people there and the nurses treat you like crap, and they don’t let you leave the place when you ask them to. My dad drinks once a week and was just seeking help to get over it and now he’s in a place called riverpoint behavioral hospital in jacksonville florida. I don’t know what to do. He told the nurse he wants to sign himself out but they said he can’t until he sees a doctor and the doctor has to approve, well, its been an entire day and he hasn’t seen the doctor. HOW DO I GET HIM OUT OF THIS PLACE. ?! He’s a normal guy who drinks once a week. But he also has type 2 diabetes he’s 53 years old and doesn’t know what he’s got himself into

Hate to say it, but he is an adult and he signed papers. He will either have to play by their rules, or you can find an attorney who can prove he wasn’t in a frame of mind to sign the papers in which case you would be opening an entirely different can of worms.

If he is 53 years old and doesn’t know what he’s gotten himself into, then he needs to be getting some kind of help for something
