This recovery program came with my hp/compaq laptop with windows xp media center and I have viruses.

If you got cds with the operating system on it with the laptop, then use those, otherwise it will be on your hard drive and you will have to watch for instructions when you start up your computer.

Doing this will earase all your programs, and files and settings and put you laptop into the state it was when you bought it. So backup your important files.

If a virus is the problem then just get anti virus.
