Fat Tax? Imprison overweight people? Seems preposterous?
Question by MM: Fat Tax? Imprison overweight people? Seems preposterous?
I asked this question previously which was then deleted because it seems no one got what I’m talking about.
Typically the answers were expressing dis-belief that I could be so cold-hearted against people that were “already suffering in a prison of obesity” etc.
Which is exactly the type of response I was hoping for – and which is exactly why, I say, we need to legalize all recreational drugs, tax their purchase, and use all of the tax funds for funding rehabilitation clinic for those who are suffering through addiction.
We should do the same with ice-cream, and “gluttonous” items of food – chocolate, etc. – a “SIN TAX” so to speak
the “SIN TAX” on gluttonous food items could go to fund rehabilitation for the obscenely obese – as the same does for the drug users. As should be with alcohol as well.
People thought it preposterous to imprison someone because of their obesity – I have the same feeling for imprisonment of severe addicts of anything: food, drugs, whatever.
COMMENTS?
“SNARKY” below obviously didn’t comprehend what I’m talking about – and I’ll quote:
“You seem to believe that obesity deserves punishment. You need to know that lots of people are obese from medication they are taking for other problems, thyroid problems, genetics, disabilities…”
NO I”M NOT – CONTRARILY I SAY MOST PEOPLE IN PRISON FOR DRUG USE ARE IN BECAUSE OF LIKEWISE/SIMILAR MEDICAL ISSUES GONE UNEXAMINED
I”M SAYING IT”S JUST AS PREPOSTEROUS TO IMPRISON OBESE PEOPLE AS IT IS DRUG USERS
“Not everyone gets overweight from overeating on the couch. It is beyond stupid to tax obesity. If stupidity had a tax, you’d be in debt.”
AND OF COURSE THOSE WITHOUT VALID ARGUMENT OR LACK OF COMPREHENSION HAVE NOTHING BUT INSULT WITH WHICH TO RESORT
My IQ has been tested and I’m near 150 – how’s yours eh there snarky?

No, not a fat tax or imprisonment. However, do smokers pay higher insurance premiums because of the health choices they make? If so, why not charge the 500 pounder more in premiums, since they’re more likely to use the insurance than others?
